What do you want in a Slipcover Fabric?
Slipcovering: for Washable Furniture . . .
|
Homespun's wide fabrics are fantastic for slipcovers. They are washable,
durable and are a non-toxic fabric. Using the natural look, you can trim with a
contrasting color, or use the same fabric for a monochromatic, luxury look. (After

"I love the contrast piping look. It looks so regal against the neutrals in Homespun.
Then if I change my colors, I just change the piping to match!" Nancy Whitehouse,
Abilene TX.

Allergies? Children? Pets? . . .
Slipcovers are a godsend if you have young children, pets
or health problems such as dust, animal allergies, or asthma. Your child spills
or gets dirt on the furniture. Your dog or cat sheds fur and flea eggs on your sofa.
Dust, dirt and flea eggs just get ground into conventional upholstered furniture.
It looks unsightly and embarrassing, and can cause a variety of heath problems.
No problem with a slipcover. Just take it off and wash
it. Slipcovers are made to be washed, and they're easy to care for. If you like
the casual look, just throw it in the wash. If you prefer a crisper look, you can
either professionally wash & press, or dry clean it.
"I enjoy the washable fabrics because I do paintings on the pillows in water base
paints, so when I want a new look, I throw it in the wash, and voila! I have
a new canvas for a new picture! Sometimes I also do it on the skirt front."
Stella Sanders, Chicago IL.
Slipcovered furniture is practical . . .

You can always match them with new décor by just changing the
slipcover. The more conventional upholstered furniture may have to be thrown
away. A shame when you note the quality of workmanship in older pieces. As a result,
slipcovered items have a longer life. You save dollars and get more use out of your
furniture investment. (Photo courtesy of It Seams to Me, Concord, NH))
"I've made gorgeous slipcovers for several other pieces of furniture and this fabric
is MARVELOUS!!!" L Blethen, Bridgeton NJ

Versatility . . .
Slipcovers continue to remain extremely popular over the years. Versatility is only
one of the advantages to owning slipcovered furniture. Although most people associate
slipcovers with a loose casual look, they can also be made to look just like a traditional
upholstered couch.
"Your fabric is wonderful. I want to make a new slip cover for a couch that has
one on it made with your fabric. After at least 25 yrs with numerous washings,
it is still perfect. It was my mother's and now after 8 years I want the natural.
In this throw away society, it is nice to get something that will last!!!" S. Moore,
Pocasset MA
